Life offers precious gifts to each of us as we journey through the world. Gifts like diamonds hidden in grey packages, formed by difficulties and challenges that we often refuse, caught in the illusion of the glitter of packages that we see everywhere and catch our eyes, but which contain nothing inside.
\nI remember the fairy tales in which heroes were told that as a reward for their deeds they were offered to choose one from several treasure chests. The positive character chose a small and seemingly insignificant treasure chest, but which hid the real treasure, while the negative character chose the biggest and brightest chest, which hid wild beasts that killed him.
\nWhat are the qualities that help us truly see the gifts that life offers us in its great generosity? I think modesty and delicacy of the soul. Delicacy derives from modesty, and modesty derives from delicacy. We cannot see the essence of life if we live it with the belief that we deserve everything, without giving anything in return, and if we focus on the shiny packages that give the illusion of wealth, but are empty inside. We cannot reap the best fruits waiting to receive everything ready, without doing everything we can, every time we can, to be good and beautiful, which\u00a0means overcoming difficulties, challenges, and problems, to receive the gift of life with the modesty specific to soul delicacy. Just as a diamond needs no glittering packaging to show off its value, noble souls need no rewards to give them certainty of worth, for they know what they are worth. They value as much as life is worth, that is, I know that their value is inestimable. The reward comes only as a confirmation of their value, not as a necessity. They could not acquire the conviction of their own worth if they did not force themselves to face as best they could the challenges and difficulties that life threw at them, testing them to see if they really deserved their gift.<\/p>\n
