Gratitude is the main ingredient for happiness

Gratitude is the main ingredient with which we create our own happiness. We create the moments that bring us joy or the works that bring us fulfillment.

Whenever we want to create something in the real world, we look for tools to help us complete the task. Writing instruments, watercolors, materials, anything else specific to each field. But, above all, it is necessary to awaken within us and perpetuate the feeling of gratitude, the only one capable of setting things in motion and making the Universe vibrate to our desires.

Gratitude is the feeling by which we become aware of the benefits, advantages and blessings that life offers us in every moment. It is a kind of review of them, a process that is learned over time and mastered along the way, and the better we master it, the more beautiful the opportunities that come our way and the life that is shown to us.

The feeling of gratitude is learned like any other technique, it is educated and perfected day by day. Every successful man who enjoys his own achievement and brings joy to others, practices it in various ways, more or less consciously.

In a society based on material wealth, we are inoculated with the idea that what we have is not enough and that to be happy we need more, so we focus on what we are going to get, thinking that, then it will be different than at present, that then we will have more and feel better. In fact, we sent into the Universe the idea of lack, and the Universe responds accordingly, giving us more of it.

On the other hand, if before achieving something, we think about what we already have and are grateful for, we send into the Universe the idea of abundance, which will return to us tenfold. I think this is the meaning of the quote from the Bible: “For him who has, more will be given, but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away!”

We each have reasons to be thankful for, but few truly feel grateful. We should be grateful for the new day that was given to us and that others did not get. Grateful that we are healthy, strong, or for the physical and spiritual qualities with which we have been endowed. Grateful for the childhood we had, for the people who helped us throughout our lives. Grateful for the material possessions we have and use in our daily lives. Grateful for those who raised us and for teachers and mentors, for the friends we have and with whom we share beautiful moments. Grateful for the people we loved that crossed our lives and gave us a new drive to live. Grateful for the sunny afternoon in which we feel traces of spring emerging. Grateful for the era in which we were born, for the comforts and opportunities we enjoy that previous generations did not have. And the list could go on and on. Therefore, it’s up to each individual to discover their own reasons to be grateful.

If we start the day being grateful for what we have, and go to sleep in the evening being grateful for the moments and experiences lived during the day, our life will improve visibly, and the trials we go through will not affect us so much anymore.
